Addition

Lima Bean Addition

preparation: reuse Altoid mint tin; paint five lima beans for each tin.

paint one side of each lima bean yellow, the other side red.

Directions: student closes tin and gently shakes. Open the tin and observe the colors shown. Record the addition problem on the recording sheet by coloring in the ovals (lima beans). 

Write the addition problem.  All sums should equal 5.

Spring Bunny Bump Game

My students loved this game!  I found it at

Sunny Days in Second Grade blog.

I modified the game for 2 dice addition. The students rolled the dice,

added, found the sun om the game board and covered it with a marker.

Bunny Addition Fun

We used bunny cutouts on pocket chart to create addition problem. Students demonstrated addition problems using colored marshmallows as the the bunny's teeth. If they got the sum correct, they ate the marshmallows!

Short Vowels Word Search

Bunny diecuts were placed around the room. Some had long vowel words and some had short vowel words.  The students "Read and Write the Room" by searching for the short vowel words and writing them on Easter stationery.
